DENVER — A man accused of trying to arrange sex with a minor claimed he was doing research for a “sexology” degree.
Benjamin Clinton Stribling, 30, appeared in Arapahoe County court Tuesday morning for a preliminary hearing.
Investigators first learned about Stribling when a Centennial mom contacted Arapahoe County Sheriff’s deputies in June saying her 13-year-old daughter had been talking with an older man.
The man was trying to have sex with the girl and told her he was a college student studying sexology, said Arapahoe County District Attorney George Brauchler in court Tuesday.
Stribling told the girl his assignment was to have sex with a minor girl, Braucher said.
“He was very aggressive,” Brauchler added.
Undercover investigators posted as a 13-year-old girl and started talking to Stribling on the Internet. On August 2, he showed up at the South Glenn mall to meet a girl for sex.
